The Hartford Fire Department is located at 436 East Main St, in the city of Hartford, MI. The current station was built in 1973, with a minor remodel occurring in 2016. The Station Currently houses 6 pieces of apparatus along with 3 administrative offices and a combination kitchen/meeting/training room.

The City of Hartford and Hartford Township entered into an agreement on September 13th, 1973 to jointly support the Hartford Fire Department. By doing this, they created a Fire Board to oversee the department. The fire board is made up of two representatives from each entity and one at large representative that serves six-year terms. Capital assets purchased by the Fire Board are jointly owned by the city and township.
